In this capitalist society, consumption and waste are directly proportional. As waste gradually increases, due to excessive consumption, there are residues that cannot be destroyed normally.
Plastic contamination is the accumulation of plastic items and particles adversely impacting ecosystems, wildlife environments, and humans in the Earth’s climate. The chemical composition of most plastics makes them resistant to many natural degradation processes and are slow to degrade as a consequence and resulting in land degradation, air and water pollution, cause destruction on our environment.
During the development of a concept, I begin with a research of the site to provide a contextual framework for the work. For this project, I have been working with and re- creating sculptural environments, collecting many different types of plastic and re-presented them through still life photography to try to warn people that these harmful items are contributing to our environment.
